Im getting the "No bootable device" message on my laptop after it fel

My little brother made my laptop fall and right after I'm now getting a “no bootable device” message. I'm not a big tech guy but I checked online and I looked around in the bios settings. Everything is enabled, boot mode is set to legacy and the hard drive is appearing at the top of the boot priority order

Commonly, you may receive the error "No Bootable Device" if your computer does not detect a hard drive, solid state drive, or other bootable drive to load the operating system. This can sometimes be caused by a change to settings in your BIOS or UEFI.

In your case, dropping the HDD from any height is enough to shock it and brick it forever. The platter alignment and the tiny reader heads on the arms have to function in perfect harmony, and dropping it is the best way to ruin it. There’s a good chance that ether the HDD connection has been knocked loose or the HDD and/or motherboard have been damaged. If you've bricked the hard drive, get a new one.

Solution to all these problems are— Despite having a hard drive, you should use SSD as it has no moving parts in it and has only chips soldered to the circuit board directly, so no matter how much you drop your laptop it will never get damaged and for the UEFI OS problem, just install Windows using a bootable usb.

I agree, hard drives are very likely to go bad after the laptop is dropped. SSD is the way to go it also makes the machine like new, it's a night and day difference in how long it takes to boot up the computer and improves general use performance wide.

Hi Bus Driver

Since you mentioned that hard disk is able to see, at least you can eliminate that the connection to mainboard is fine

I suspect your hard disk has crashed, even it is shown in the BIOS.

You can try to get an usb hdd enclosure to check if data can still be accessible.

IMO dropped components, especially HDD, best to get it replaced.

So lets say you want to make it work,

One easy way is to use another computer to download windows 10 to make a usb bootable.

Download for 64 Bit / x64 version

you will need to have a spare thumbdrive 8GB or greater.

I would suggest you when you do a replacement of the hard disk, consider SSD as it is a better replacement and reliability, speed.

Below is the link / guide to change the HDD

Once the HDD has been replaced,

I would suggest you to configure your PC in this mode.

Enable Boot Menu

Disable Legacy Boot, Set to UEFI

Enable Secure Boot

Enable TPM

Save and Exit Setup

Invoke boot menu to select the win10 usb to boot and start installation.
