2016 pathfinder briefly smokes on start up and is consuming oil 76k no warning lights some loose sludge in valve cover on front

what colour smoke is it? any car on start up will show a little smoke, if its thin white smoke its just condensation and nothing to worry about. if its a thicker blue then it might explain the oil consumption as this could be related to worn piston rings, valve seals, intake manifold gaskets and clogged oil drains. I would start by replacing the valve cover gasket as its a relatively easy job for anyone to do and usually the most common to go first.
