Laptop Will Not Boot After Battery Drained to 0%

Hi,

This morning I was using my laptop when the low battery notification came up on screen. I ended up leaving the laptop on the couch, where the battery inevitably died. When I went to use it an hour later, I plugged in the charger but it refused to boot.

I reset the SMC but holding CTRL+Option+Shift+Power for 10 seconds. I tried 3 different chargers, but no luck. I had this particular battery replaced in July-19 (6months ago), so I decided to take it into my local Apple Store.

They did their diagnostics and said the logic board needs replacing. The genius said he disconnected all components and couldn’t get the laptop to start.

My thinking is that the battery is faulty, but he guaranteed the battery could not cause this problem. Could the battery be causing this, or am I in for a new laptop?

Thanks in advance,

Jonathan

To validate what the genius told you lets do this:

Now plug in the MagSafe charger, the system should spontaneously startup did it?

The MagSafe LED needs to be lit (will be Amber here)

Shutdown the system and reconnected the battery and close up the bottom cover.

Connecting the MagSafe back up should be Amber and then turn to Green after the battery recharges which can be over 8 hours.
