Any way to bypass the power/volume control ZIF to turn on the tablet?

In the process of trying to rectify an issue with my power/volume control ZIF I disrupted it's ability to communicate with the mother board and tell it to turn on/off and increase/decrease the volume. There is no longer any response for any of the related functions. The issue isn't with the ZIF connector or it's receptacle on the motherboard, but the gold metal contacts underneath the silver buttons used to initiate power/volume on/off;up/down. Is it able to be bypassed? Repaired? Or simply best to replace? Thanks
