I book G4 starts up fine but I can only see the top third area of the screen, the rest is white with some very faint horizontal lines. I`ve stripped the machine checked all connections/wires ETC and zip nothing found. Any ideas as to the problem??

99 our of 100 cases of that are going to be a bad screen. You'll have to replace the internal screen component. You screen casing, hinge, and cables are most likely fine.
The main thing with those is you'll want to pop the back of the screen casing off and verify which screen you have, the narrow connector socket (about an inch across), or the wide socket (about two inches across). I believe most (if not all) of the 14" 1.33GHZ machines had the wide socket. I'd get the model number off the back of the screen, and plug it into eBay to find your replacement.
Obviously these machines are not worth a whole lot at this point, and most screen vendors will try to charge you at least $80. I'd recommend buying a parts machine and stealing its screen, or sorting the eBay list cheapest first and seeing if there are any unusually good deals out there.

Hi great advise thanks for that, yeah it`s got the large plug on the back of the screen, I reckon I`ll take yor advise and maybe get another laptop off ebay and cannibalize it for the part.
