I can't connect my charging lead to phone.

Does it plug in fully, only partially or not at all?

Use a strong light and a magnifying glass to inspect the charge port enclosure for any dust or lint that may be lodged in there preventing a good electrical connection. Also check that all the pins (5) are there and that they are straight and parallel with each other and not bent or broken.

If there is any lint etc in there do not use a metal pin or probe to try and get it out as you may damage the pins or cause electrical problems in the phone. Use a vacuum cleaner and try to suck it out instead. If it still won’t come out, use a sharpened wooden toothpick to gently prise it out.

If it plugs in fully and the port enclosure appears to be OK try the following:

Plug in the charge cable into the phone’s charge port. Do not connect the other end of the cable to anything.

Firmly grab hold of the phone in one hand and then grabbing the charge cable plug between the thumb and forefinger of the other hand try to gently move it from side to side and up and down to check if any movement can be detected in the charge port.

If there is movement (or even if not) it may be loose from the systemboard and the phone will have to be opened and the problem further inspected as to the cause of the problem.
