Do I need an LCD replacement, or top lid?

While I was sleeping, I accidently knocked my laptop off my bed and woke to a broken bottom section of my screen. There is one spot of physical damage to the exterior, which can probably be bent into place. Will I need to spend $80 on a LCD replacement, or $400 for a top lid? I appreciate any response.
