Water spill and since problem with click wheel

My daughter's iPod Nano 4th gen made a trip to the washing machine. I opened it to make sure the internal parts would dry faster and blowed compressed air. There was no sign of water inside but now the click wheel center button doesn't work. What do you think guys: click wheel issue or motherboard issue ?

The water tends to corrode on the click wheel connector. Use the guide to the point where you push the main board out. That will expose the connector. Carefully disconnect the connector, and use a little isopropyl alcohol on the exposed pieces to clean it.

If you can hear clicking, I think that the click wheel is probably working. The display has probably failed. You can get a replacement fairly cheaply on ebay. Be very careful when disassembling, the ribbon cable that connects the display to the main board is very fragle, and has probably gotten wet. I would use some isopropyl alcohol on the connector and cable before taking it apart. I have seen the gold traces peel off the ribbon cable when disconnecting it, rendering the display useless, so be cautious!

Well if you think about it, it'd be relatively simple to replace the click wheel, compared to trying the motherboard, so you should find a cheap click wheel on ebay, and use this guide to install it. If that doesn't work then it's probably the logic board.

Does it physically work though, or does it just not register?

Yes everything works as it should but the click wheel center button. I'll try to find a dead one on ebay hoping mine has the click wheel issue.

I have the same problem when my daughter accidentally put her coat, with the iPod, in the wash.

In my case, (1) I the display does not work. (2) The click wheel clicks. Furthermore, I can click next and back to go to the next song and back, respectively. However, given that the display does not work, I cannot be sure if the click wheel is functioning.

QN: Do you think I need to replace the display? And the click wheel?

FWIW: It's been about 2 months since the accident. I waited about 2 days before trying the iPod.

Cheers!

Went this summer by the sea and there has slightly wetted iPod nano 4 generation. Has wetted, instead of has dropped in water! Now for me does not react at all touch wheel, but the screen thus works, reacts at tumbling and to locking. After has become wet at first reacted to the button and even played songs but after it was discharged has ceased.

Prompt, what to me to do?
