1 Vertical light bands in display: free fix by Apple US
I found this problem described in the question posted in 2008 LED backlight has a dark pattern on bottom edge of the screen?

Took my Early 2008 15" Macbook Pro to the local US Apple Store last Thursday and they fix it within 3 hours, free. I don't even have a service plan. Hope you folks in UK have the same deal.
