My headset jack appears to be blocked.

Is this a common flaw, I hardly ever use the headset.

Now it will not fully seat or activate.

Is the jack itself broken?

I see this specific part for sale online, is this a common issue?

How do I replace the headset jack?

Is there soldering involved?

Kevin, looks like it is mounted with a flex cable. Take a look at the image attached. If you need the manual you can download it from here. Good Luck and I hope this will help you out.

Hi,

It seems I have similar problem. My N8 fell on a floor and jack inlet just broke (as well as jack sorrounding). Nokia Care didn't want to repair it. They said, it's mechanical failure caused by user, so whole phone's main board should be replaced by new, because jack is a part of it. Looking at your picture I doubt it. It seems jack is replaceable.

Guarantee is over as well now (not authorised cover opening!).

That means, I should go to unauthorised service or repair it by myself.

oldturkey03, please share the rights of your repair guide, to allow me download.

Update

Hi, Oldturkey03,

Thanks for that :o).

THe manual is very clean and clear.

It doesn't say whether AV conenctor is replaceable or not, but while I cna buy it as separate part, I hope it's possible to fix a broken one with new part.

I'll give a feedback after repair.

Cheers,

Arek from Poznań, Polanc :o)

Hi,

I have a similar problem, not the Headphone Jack but the Volume Rocker Switch is buggered. The headphone Jack does have a partially broken plastic surround but probably not bad enough to need to worry about replacing it.

But after the most recent drop my Nokia N8 volume switch only works in one direction... Down. So I can't turn the volume Up... unless I use the touchscreen volume slider (which isn't always available). So oldturkey03 I'm hoping your instruction manual will tell me how to replace one of these things too.

So having said all that, oldturkey03, could you please share the rights of your repair guide with me as well, to allow me download.

Regards,

Brian Brian, Australia
