MacBook Air boots to black back lit screen.

I have attempted resetting SMC and PRAM/NVRAM already. When I power up the machine I can hit the F11(Volume Increase) button which then prompts “Username“ and, after successful, “Password.” After that, I can use an external display to use the MacBook Air but the main display remains black.
