power adapters keep breaking

Hey, I have gone through 5 chargers and they all keep breaking in the same way; the magsafe 2 pins keep burning - like they literally turn pure black and some seem to snap completely. I sadly dont have any pics of the charger but the actual; port on my macbook is slightly discolored but not too bad.

I take good care of my chargers, admittedly I didn’t for the first or second one but the rest i took super good care of.

Is this something I can fix myself? what would I need to fix? How much will it cost?

Thanks again!

A very common issue with knockoff chargers! Here’s the damage on the MagSafe port on the system

The cause is cheap knockoffs don’t have the better circuit design the REAL Apple units have! Go to an Apple Store or order directly from Apple and get the proper charger: Apple 45W MagSafe Power Adapter for MacBook Air

Ouch, yeah that is exactly what it looks like Dan.

I was using a knockoff charger because my first one broke and i didn't have the money to replace it. So is it just the I/O board that will need replacing?

Also, if you dont mind, I have a few more questions. Where can I buy a new keyboard for it? When I got it I used to eat around it and so many crumbs have gotten under it that some keys don't move at all. I have tried pressurised air but it doesn't help. Also, my trackpad seems to be jammed down and I can't get it to pop back up no matter what I do, where can I buy a new one? Thanks!

For your keyboard I would first try a few short blasts of can'ed air to blow out the crumbs and other loose debris after lifting off the keycap off. Then give a cotton swab (Q-Tip) slightly damp with 85% isopropyl alcohol to clean any spillage.

Replacing the keyboard is a a sizable chore, instead I would replace the entire uppercase shell with the keyboard MacBook Air 13" (Mid 2013-2017) Upper Case with Keyboard

For your trackpad I would take it out and then clean the edge of the uppercase and the trackpad as you likely have junk gaming it up. If you replace the uppercase when you transfer the trackpad over you'll solve that problem.
