Cannot boot to windows

Can anyone tell me what “critical-process-died” means? That is the answer I get when trying to start my computer.

The computer may have a virus. Run a virus scan program using safe mode. If there no virus, update device drivers. If you cannot, let me know if I can provide help by step by step using this application

Hello @a123bonnie

If you have the chance to start your device in safe mode to test if the issue is with a recent installed application or if that let you login you can check the system opening the CMD with admin privileges and use the command sfc /scannow, to check the OS.

The error you mentioned can be happening due to so many factors but you need to discard if the issue is only with Windows OS or maybe there is a problem with a hardware component. Another good command that can help to check your computer is chkdsk /f C: to verify if your HDD is ok and no sector issues detected.

If you are able to start in safe mode, you can use System Restore to get back your OS at an older state point were you be sure the system was working correctly.

Test it and let us know,
