How can I reattach trackpad cable?

I followed a tutorial to clean my trackpad and changed the battery out at the same time. They show pulling off the ribbon cable from the trackpad, it was glued, and now it seems impossible to reattach. I see a spot on the bottom of it where adhesive was, but what glue and where should I put it? double sided sticky tape on the three black squares plus on the base of the triangular cord? rubber cement? Do I slide the tip of the tape with electronics under the tab so the dotted lines line up with that lip? I thought was on top of that small bar but fits under so could be that way.
