The digitizer flaps lifting screen from frame

The extra flaps around the digitizer connectors are preventing the screen from sitting flat on the frame without some force. The screen is not lifting off the frame after replacement. Are the additional flaps supposed to be removed?? We're not on the original screen?? Any suggestions??
