Repair and disassembly information for Logitech's K800 wireless keyboard.

Replacing soldered in battery

I have the newer Logitech K800 wireless keyboard which no longer has replaceable rechargeable batteries. The Battery compartment has the same cover has the older style but no access to the battery compartment. I believe the battery is now soldered to the motherboard. Has anybody pulled apart this newer keyboard and replaced the rechargeable battery.

I have the same problem. The battery died overnight. Had I know this I would not have purchased the K800. I guess I will attempt to take the keyboard apart and if successful, I will purchase a battery. I suppose this is another example of “planned obsolescence”. This does not make me want to purchase Logitech equipment in the future.

Unbelievable. I had K800 for years, bought a new one that lasts less than a year? Paying some C$150 for a disposable keyboard?

Another very large thumbs down against Logitech for having now made the batteries sealed in and not "user" replaceable unless one rips the entire keyboard apart to get at the batteries. Oh, and all of you that post instructions and videos to the OLD K800 with replaceable batteries.. could you try reading?

My keyboard indicated that the battery would not charge after a year of use, so I used it with a USB cable and it worked just fine but was no longer wireless. After a couple of months, I discovered that the battery had somehow recovered and remains working. I hope that it will keep working for as long as possible because it really is a nice keyboard. I was in no mood to take the keyboard apart and locate a new battery; don’t give up hope.

Certainly, Logitech made a mistake and most likely lost a lot of sales as well as fans of their brand. This sort of thing, which is often found in various products makes one wonder about who makes such stupid mistakes when designing products. There is too much completion out there; people can and will go elsewhere when they need something like a keyboard.

No need for soldering - the battery plugs in. Here is the link:
