Why do the hinges and the base part of the laptop in general creak?

I’ve had this about a year (from new- i know, late to the party but somehow managed to find a new one back then), and have always tried my best to look after it: it rarely leaves the house, usually sits on a stand when in use, connected to an external keyboard and mouse, but occasionally goes downstairs as a laptop (tent mode) to watch the news or the footie. Some distinct creaking has just become apparent upon adjusting the screen angle / closing it, and having removed the iPearl mCover clip-on protective polycarbonate case that usually lives on it (hoping that might be the source of the noise) the creaking persists. It’s fairly consistent, each time time i open, close or adjust the angle of the screen, but it and also seems to occur when i handle it, holding the base. It’s quite disconcerting, and i very much hope it isn’t a sign of more trouble to come; aside from this it’s quite annoying. I understand that the ribbon cables that connect to the display go through the hinge/s, but haven’t yet (fingers crossed) experienced issues with the display. I’m neither very confident in repairing this sort of tech, nor do i have much in the way of financial means, so i very much hope that some of you more experienced Pixelbook users / repairers might be able to shed light on this issue, in the hope that i can find a remedy. Many thanks in advance.
