No power after logic board swap

Hello! I have a macbook pro M1 that had a bad logic board, making a popping noise when plugged in. I have replaced the board, and am still getting no power. The popping noise stopped, but I am not sure where to go from here. I have ensured everything is plugged in, and I am sure that nothing is missing. Any ideas?

Is voltage getting to your board at all? Is the board drawing any current?

tarafından

What is the easiest way to check that?

tarafından

I have checked the voltage, it is drawing the following: 5.16V, 0.05A, and 0.25W

After randomly disconnecting the display, the computer booted as normal. I shut it down and reconnected the display, with the computer booting again. The battery is shot though and I will be replacing it. Thanks for the help everyone!

Did you replace the married TouchID power button that came with the replacement logic board? That is a must!

Frankly, I would have checked to see if it was still covered under warranty. Even still I would have tried to get a warranty exception for this issue as something is not right!

I did replace the button, which came with the new board. The original board is water damaged, and also is out of warranty and given to me by a friend.

Being water damaged also adds more to the puzzle. Sadly, we just don't have much on this series yet. So probing voltages on the logic board (power rails) is iffy without physically tracing the pathways. The M1 MacBook Teardowns: Something Old, Something New is all we have here. I would recommend you look on the web to see if something has fallen off the back of a truck yet ;-}

I also tried it without the battery plugged in, same power draw. Think replacing the battery would help?
