iPhone 7 Lightnight Connector and Battery Replacement Issues

I was able to complete the installation of the Lightning Connector Assembly Replacement and Battery for my iPhone7. The phone was able to turn on and work normally, however, I'm still unable to successfully charge the battery.

Also, when I have the phone on, I can feel the battery getting hotter than it normally would before I made the battery replacement.

I'm not sure what could be causing these two issues. Perhaps I was too forceful when installing the Lightning Connector Assembly? I would appreciate any suggestions if anyone has encountered something similar. Thanks!

Just so I'm clear, you replaced the lightning port and the battery due to charging issues?

Hi there, yes that's correct. The charging port had stopped working and my battery wasn't holding a charge for long periods of time, so I replaced both of them.

If you have replaced both the charge port and the battery, it is possible this is a board issue. The tristar chip is a super common point of failure on nearly all models of iPhone, and can cause issues like this. It’s function is primarily for USB connectivity, but it also does things like identify the charger and communicates with Tigris (the charging chip).

This is unlikely to be something you can repair yourself, unless you have experience soldering BGA chips. But any good independent repair shop with a microsolderer on staff should be able to diagnose and repair a tristar problem.
