Newish MacBook Pro Battery not charging

The battery on this relatively new Mac Pro is not charging. Everything else is working fine. The ports and the charger have no issue. This is the diagnosis from TG PRo. Thank you for your help.

Looks like the battery just failed. It happens unfortunately. Most of the time batteries degrade over time but sometimes they just die suddenly. If you're still covered by warranty or Applecare+ I would have Apple take a look. Otherwise, installing a new battery will likely get you up and running again.

Could it be a faulty connector? Is it worth opening up the unit to disconnect /connect the battery to the motherboard?

It would be unlikely based on what TG Pro says. But it's certainly easier than installing a new battery. Definitely worth giving a go. Bear in mind the battery has 2 connections on this model. A small cable which communicates battery data and a little tab that comes off the logic board and screws into the battery management board. You'll have to disconnect the cable and remove the T5 screw under to remove battery power.

Thank you! That is very helpful.
