PlayStation 4 reads but won’t take or eject discs. Help please!
After taking my console apart for cleaning (no issues prior, was just very dirty & getting quite warm), when I reassembled the disc drive it wouldn’t take a disc. If I fed a disc in with the manual eject screw it gave an unrecognised disc error.
So I took it apart again & gave the disc drive a thorough clean (not the lithium grease on the motor rail though), and checked all of the gears, sliders, arms, rollers & connecting piece. I also checked that none of the ribbon cables are broken & the fuses for the disc drive with my multimeter in continuity mode & none of them are blown.
Now, it still won’t take a disc or eject it by itself, but does read discs & play fine if I insert a disc using the manual eject screw method.
Will rebuilding the database help at all?
So I started with a working disc drive, and now have a half working disc drive 😅. Feeling a bit stupid & a bit stumped, can anyone help me with this please?
Simon.
