Replaced display cable, now lit but with black screen

My screen went black (no lit up screen or light to the Apple logo on the back) so I took the screen off/apart to expose the display LVDS cable. The connection on the underside of the screen had what appeared to be corrosion on it so I replaced the cable. (Photo attached) With the new cable the screen and Apple logo were lit up again but still just a blank screen. Using an external monitor everything looks fine. Any idea what the issue is? Could it still be hardware related or now a software issue?

Update:

Images to show cleaned connector (with soft brush and isopropyl alcohol) at the base of the display as well as the resulting lit but blank screen

@allibally Have you tried shining a somewhat powerful flashlight either through the Apple logo from the back, or from an angle at the front? In doing so, do you see shapes / picture, or something that corresponds to what "should" be on the screen?

@geirandersen thanks for the quick reply. No definitely nothing when I shine it from the back or over the screen.

@allibally. Best would be to pull the board since there could be more going on Retina MacBook 2015 Logic Board Replacement At least disconnect the display cable and clean both the cable and the board connector with some 90%+ isopropyl alcohol and a soft brush to remove the corrosion. Then repost your images showing both the connector as well as the cable end from both sides. Everything will be a guess until it is cleaned and we can see what/if any damage there is

@oldturkey03 - The connector here is part of the display assembly not the main logic board.

While there is always a possibility the damage was more extensive, what is visible in the image would be my first direction.

@oldturkey03 I replaced the LVDS Cable and tried to clean the connector on the display more but there still looks to be some damage I can’t remove. The screen remains lit but blank. I’m guessing the connector needs to be replaced as well which sounds very challenging.

It looks like the displays connector also got wet and was also corroded too. Someone with good micro-soldering skills might be able to replace the connector otherwise it’s time for a new display assembly.
