Dell XPS 13 laptop will not power on

When I press the power button the indicator momentarily comes on then goes off. I performed the power and rtc reset several times with no success. My next move will be to remove the back cover and pull the integrated battery connection.

If this doesn't work what will be the next steps to isolate the problem? I am debating whether to risk purchasing a replacement motherboard or play it safe and buy a new laptop?

So yes unplug charger and disconnect the battery connector,

Plug in just the charger and see if it powers up.

  • If yes then time to replace battery (how old is it?).
  • If no then remove the RAM memory, HDD/SSD hard drive and any cards like WIFI.

If it powers up now then the motherboard is probably good. Add one component at a time until it doesn't power up. That is the defective component.
