Hi Robert,
It looks like the battery replacement procedure on your laptop is one of the most straight-forward ones possible, so I see only two reasons for what you're seeing.
You might even pop the old battery back in just to verify that everything else is working correctly. If you're sure the new battery was plugged in correctly and the old battery works fine, contact the iFixit Store personnel at support@ifixit.com to arrange for return and/or replacement.
Hopefully it's something simple and you'll be up and running again soon. Let us know how it goes!

Thank you so much for your advice. I made sure the connection to the motherboard was tight but the computer still says no battery detected, I popped the old on back in and it is detected. I would add that the new battery does not quite fit all the holes securing the battery to the computer, but I was able to tighten enough of the screws so that the pin connector was not sliding out. Unless someone has some other ideas, perhaps I did get the one bad apple.
@rdg1067 Just to double-check, your laptop is the one on the device page, Lenovo Yoga 720-13IKB, right? And that's the model number that's on the bottom label of the case?
Thank you, but No. On the computer case it is Lenovo Yoga 920-131kb, not 720. The box is which the new battery came does say Lenovo Yoga 920 Replcmnt.
My bad. I gave it another try to put in the new battery and can now see that the pin connector was not in tight enough. Working now. Thank you Jerry W. for your help!
@rdg1067 Awesome! So glad to hear it was something simple. Congratulations on a successful repair.
