Piece of grey plastic found inside motor

When I turned the dishwasher on, it went through the entire cycle, but nothing got washed. There were no error signals on the panel.
Repair man found a piece of grey plastic INSIDE the MOTOR. When he removed the plastic, the motor still did not work.
The grey plastic (about the size and round like a 20c piece, but flat on one side) has obviously broken off from something inside the dishwasher??

Hi @mlj,

What is the make and model number of the dishwasher?

Does the motor hum or not make any noise at all when it should be operating?

Did the repairman fix the problem or say why they couldn't?

The machine was making sounds, so I had no idea that it wasn't working until the cycle finished and I opened it.

When the repairer removed the piece of plastic and put it back together, it was still not working.

The dishwasher is a Bosch.

I didn't ask how something could actually get into the motor.

@mlj

What is the model number. look inside the door at the top perhaps?

Also is it fixed now or not?

Just wondering what kind of repairman would leave it if it wasn't unless they need to get parts of course.

The filters should stop anything getting into the pump from outside, unless it is a part of the pump itself or if it got in unnoticed if the filters were removed for cleaning.

Hi jayeff,

Thank you so much for your help.

I was trying to find out how something could get inside the motor. My thoughts were that it came from the motor itself.

After finding out that the motor would still not function, and it was possible that the dishwasher would start to leak (because it was nearly 9 years old) we chose to get a new machine.

I was curious to see if maybe it was a fault with the motors, and others may have experienced the same?
