Can someone provide information on this blown component?

Obviously blown. No indication of life, just out of warranty.

Is this a required component?

If so, where could I find an equivalent replacement?

Thank you very much!

Just to add to the great answer provided by my colleague @tech_ni The component in question is reference designator C6587 which is a 33µF 16V 20% Tant-Poly capacitor in a B3-1 case. It's a bit hard to find due to the B3 case. Based on the dimension of that case, you should find a suitable replacement on here under the B 16V 33UF 336C tab. Or, you could find a close match (not an exact match ;-) just measure the solder pads on your board and use Mouser.com or Digikey.com to find a case that will fit those dimensions.

I ended up removing the cap and it’s been working pretty flawlessly. I could order a new one but is it truly necessary? Am I risking the power rail? Thank you very much for the clarification.

@alishalash "is it truly necessary" no, since it shows yours is working. However, I always believe that the people that design these devices are so much smarter than I am. I don't think they would just add it for no reason. I would replace it. If for nothing else but a peace of mind :-)

its a capacitor, remove it and it should work fine but i would suggest replacing it after testing if it works
