Tv only responds to certain buttons
So my Sharp tv is a flat screen and a smart tv. I had a remote that powers the tv on but only that and the volume buttons are working, tries new batteries, tries reprogram the remote to the tv over and over to no avail. So I bought a new universal remote just came in today and....Same exact issue. Brand new remote tv only responds to volume and power button.

What is the model number of the TV?
Does the TV have control buttons?
If so does it operate correctly when using them?
Try to "reset" the TV by disconnecting the power to the TV and then press and hold to TV power button (if it has one) for 30 seconds and then release it. Reconnect the power to the TV and check if it responds normally to the remote.
