This is a very weird problem so bear with me folks

i have the most random issue ever

It's literally making me crazy , so the problem is the following:

I have a laptop (asus rog gl553ve) ,sometimes when i press the power button nothing happens, sometimes it starts, sometimes only the bulb led turns on without an actual boot, and when it starts (finally) it works just fine like there's nothing wrong,sometimes when i turn it off it turns off completely but the keyboard lights still on!!, when i put it to sleep and press any key , boom nothing happens, it won't wake up until i long press the power button then it'll turn off and I'll be back to square one .

This problem happened suddenly since like 3 months and then everything was okay until now.

So what could be the issue here?!

P.S. , i took it to a repair shop and they found nothing wrong in the motherboard or the components whatsoever.

I really need your help here guys

(if you're reading this you're an absolute KING!)

Hi @noobsslayer,

Has the laptop been dropped or gotten wet at all?

Re : "...when i press the power button nothing happens,...", if you connect the charger does the laptop indicate that it is charging?

tarafından

@jayeff

It hasn't gotten wet at all (idk if the room has some humidity, but there's another laptop and it works fine), and when i connect it to a charger there's no indication whatsoever ,

but sometimes when i repeat the process of long pressing the power button then after the long press , i press it , it boots , and the charger indicator turns on

Accepting the kingly role I was assigned.

Was the repair shop able to reproduce the issue? Have you tried any troubleshooting yourself with regard to opening up the machine?

I would want to see if the behavior was any different with the battery disconnected. Or with different RAM (or swap RAM to a different slot). RAM makes machines do dumb stuff. Realistically in this sort of scenario, I would want to try and narrow this issue down to some component. Or the board if it still does it regardless of what components are connected.

Which specific model of ROG is it?

It is asus rog gl553ve

Here's what i have done and none of these things worked :

. Disconnecting the battery

. Removing the ram stick

. Long pressing power button to eliminate the

static electricity (it works sometimes but with

a very little chance)

When i took it to the repair shop and they found nothing wrong they said leave it for a week or so, and when i came back it worked! , and they said , it worked by itself we did nothing.

The problem could be the memory like the cmos battery or the ram and or the disk drive like you said.

@nytryder26

Could a damaged cmos battery cause a laptop not to boot or show any signs of life ?!

But it boots sometimes and sometimes not ,and this problem happened suddenly

if the battery is damaged it shouldn't boot at all right ?

@noobsslayer I dont know for sure but it worth a shot right?
