iPhone XR VDD Main Short

iPhone XR came in being stuck in DFU mode, supposedly water damage, I have opened the phone and inside was no traces of water damage ( I have checked under the shields also), tried unplugging each individual connector still same, at last I flashed the phone through 3uTools it went good without any error codes, after the flash I tought the phone will boot but it went completly dead, not drawing any current, I have checked VDD main line and it's shorted to the GND, tried injecting voltage but nothing is heating up, looked up under the microscope everything seems good, I have reballed the PMIC(after I removed it the short was still present) I'm all out of ideas and thinking of doing a swap

If it is not drawing any Amps you do not have a VDD main short.

hello there,

look at the vdd-main line diagram (you need a schematic). Start by removing the power supply bridge (R3303). This will solve a lot of your problems. In general, the line is quite straight as like for Apple and you should have no trouble finding the short (use the TP0540 test pad). Anyway, you have got dwo diferent sub-circuits of power supply: The North with all system supplied and The South - just charger with pp_bat and i2c services for main battery. Thats all. I removed R3303 and the short was gone, but out of pure frustration I already desoldered CPU, NAND and other paired components 🤦

Hey, it's not a matter of replacing the r3303 alone. It's just a combination of two cooperating sub-systems. Temporary removing it from the environment allows you to narrow the search area only to the passive or active side of powering.
