Value of iOpener for battery adhesive?

I've replaced dozens of batteries in Retina MacBook Pros & the newer models that all have adhesive holding them in. To this point, I've used iFixit's solution (acetone right?) with decent results, but it's messy & annoying.

If I were to buy and use an iOpener on the palmrest area, would that actually be adequate to help soften the adhesive?

Is a heatgun realistic to use? I'd be concerned about damaging the trackpad in the process.

Sorry, the heat is just not able to penetrate the battery to soften the adhesive and even heating the upper case on the other side needs quite a lot of heat quickly as the aluminum just dissipates it.

The solvent method is all there is.

I go one step farther as I use the 3M quick release strips instead. So I clean off all of the adhesive then put down two strips for the center cells and one for each of the smaller the outside ones get it closer to the edge.

I just removed my stock battery by simply pulling the cells out, off the adhesive. First I used a plastic pry bar (bicycle tire "iron") to life the cell. I kept worked the pry SLOWLY under the battery and listened for the adhesive to release. I did this enough to get my fingers under the cell and continued to pull it out SLOWLY. It takes finess and i think experience working with this kind of thing to do properly. All cells came out and it took me 8 minutes to get the entire battery out.

Trick for cleaning off the adhesive from the inside of the case: push the adhesive into itself on the short edge of a strip. use a plastic spudget to push the adhesive into a ridge along the short edge. then grab it with your fingers and slowly peel the strip off the case.

No need to adhesive or removing anything from the macbook.
