@tech_ni - The board number is not the same as the part number! The board number helps you in locating the schematic and board view drawings. Ordering a logic board is a very different task.
@michaelmag62245 820-01236-A is a 661-12464 Intel i5 3.1GHz 6-Core 4GB board. The 820-01236-06 is a 661-12475 3.6GHz, 8-Core i9, Radeon Pro 575X 4GB board. Yes, that board should fit your iMac.
Hi guys, I've the 820-01236-A Board and I must change the thermal paste and thermal pads and I was thinking about a processor upgrade. Can I use an i9 9900k for replacing my i5 9600k with my logic board? The heatsink is the same? Because I've not found informations about this. Regards and thanks!!!
@radament - Yes you can do that! I'll warn you reseating the CPU is quite hard as the spring tension on the heatsink is a bit much. If you mess up you could damage the socket pins which would be costly if you can't straighten them or snap it off.
Thank You so much Dan, I bought just a few hours ago an i9 9900k, I'll update the community when the upgrade is done (I hope) :D regards, Have a nice day and thanks for the support!
Can someone confirm that i have this correct? I have an older iMac with a 661-12483 logic board (i9) and I can't find an exact replacement. However, based on the information here, I could replace it with a 661-12471 (i5) and it would work? Or any of the others with the lesser graphics processors?
