If water entered, damage may occur from short circuiting. Without any guarantee of restoring full operation. you can either find a repair shop and discuss what happened to determine costs for repair or try disassembling it yourself to examine the circuitry for remaining water, use tissues, Q-tips, canned air, blow dryer set on cold or leave it opened over a stove or oven for the warmth of a pilot light to slowly dry it out over several hours. On top of a gas water heater or out in the sun can do the same to help evaporate remaining moisture. If you disassemble and dry out remaining moisture, reassembling it, recharging the battery may restore full function. Be sure the battery wasn't damaged. Measure it for operating voltage.. Replace it if several years of regular use has worn it out.

@anniewheat you will have to treat this just like you treat any other liquid immersed device. Here are the basics.

The myth of rice as a tool for any kind of immersion accident has long been laid to rest as totally bogus. Rice does not work. It is the equivalent of doing absolutely nothing. All it does is waste time and waste food. Check here https://www.ifixit.com/News/30047/rice-i... for more on this.

For now stop continuing to try to charge, sync or otherwise use your VR headset. This potentially can make a bad situation worse. This may further damage your phone.

The next thing to do is to clean it. Disassemble your VR headset using something like this video. You must remove all EMI shields from the circuit boards. If you do not remove those, you might as well not do anything. After you remove those, clean the whole board, connectors and all with +90% isopropyl alcohol. Follow this guide, Even so it was written for an Apple iPhone 3G all the points are still pertinent to your device. While you clean your boards, check for any obvious damage, like burned or missing components etc. When it is properly cleaned, you must replace the battery. All these steps are to avoid delayed failure caused by corrosion. Best thing to do would be to clean it with an ultrasonic cleaner, but if you do not have access to one, this will at least help. Once all this is done, reassemble your headset and reevaluate. Until it is cleaned, everything will only be a guess. Even with all this, water damage has only a small chance to be fully repaired, but at least you can give it a try.

While you work on your VR headset, take lots of pictures. Once you are done with it, take those pictures and create a guide for iFixit. That will help the next person that has the same problem as you do. It's easy and fun to create these guides. https://ifixit.com/Guide/new The iFixit community will appreciate this.
