Small scratch on display (MacBook Pro 14" M1 Pro)

Hi, I had a minor accident and now there is a small crack on my MacBook Pro 14" 2021. The display itself is fine and the crack is barely visible in normal use, but it bothers me terribly, I'm a stickler about these things. I don't suppose there is some miracle elixir that will make the scratch go away, but does anyone have experience with this? To make it barely visible, for example? I've seen that you can also buy new displays on aliexpress for around $600, I'd go for that, but is the quality the same as the original? I'm mainly concerned about the 120Hz. Thanks a lot

This looks more like a chip than a crack. The problem you have is what every you get may not span the distance if it’s a chip. There are windshield crack fillers for cars that might work. The question is It’s worth the effort?

Now some bad news! Apple now serializes the display! Preventing you from using real Apple displays (removed from dead systems) as well as others.

You need to get the display directly from Apple either via an authorized servicer or Apple Store. If you’re handy you can also leverage the self repair option but where you live may not give you that choice.

So why must I go to Apple?? Well it’s getting the system to accept the new (other display) here you’ll be given access to Apples calibration tool which is behind a paywall then you’ll walk though a few steps and it’s done!

What year did Apple start the display serialization?

@mayer - it started with the M1 series chipped systems. But even before that a virgin display in the 2018/19 Intel systems needed what Apple called calibration to enable the SameTime camera. A used display would work! Without any problems.

There’s a few YouTube vids on this and even iFixit did some testing working with two matched systems swapping the displays where neither worked with the other.
