replaced screen, bottom microphone no longer works

I replaced my screen with the ifixit kit. I was pleased that everything seemed to work, then discovered that the bottom microphone doesn't work.

That means no phone unless I use speakerphone, no google assistant, no voice recorder, etc.

I have done nothing other than replace the screen. I was wondering if there could be a problem with the screen connector, that could cause this?

I've tried all the other things on the internet, factory reset, blowing air into the microphone port, making sure microphone isn't disabled in apps, installing third party apps, lots of unlikely desperation stuff.

Does anyone have any ideas?

In my case is pretty much the same, the only difference is that the mic works for calls and JUST for calls. nothing else seems to work

I am facing the exact same issue.

After having the screen replaced, the bottom microphone is not working with voice notes but still captures (mild) sound when shooting a video.

I'm having the exact same issue. Nothing has worked. The screen replacement went really well. Boom lower mic doesn't work. Except for phone call. Doesn't work for anything else.

Since replacing the screen was all I did, I asked iFixit if the screen could possibly be faulty. They actually sent me a replacement screen to try, (very helpful), but it made no difference, so I returned it. I have some ear buds which incorporate a microphone, and using that I can get a working microphone for apps like voice recording.

Luciano and Kevin seem to be having issues related to the top microphone, rather than the bottom microphone. The top microphone is used for shooting a video with the Camera app, while the bottom mic is used for phone calls and the Recorder app. (Some apps use the top and others use the bottom, but I know that the Camera app uses the top while shooting video and the Recorder app uses the bottom so you can use those two apps to determine which mic is faulty and then troubleshoot from there). Check under magnification that you haven't knocked off any of the components around the screen connector when you disconnected the old screen.

Thanks for the reply, I checked the picture in the guide against my phone with the screen removed, everything looks identical.
