While changing the battery I accidentally punctured it!

Punctured the battery, some smokes and a couple sparks came on. Can I try to remove it after cooling it in my refrigerator?

I just don’t want it to catch on fire and damage the board.

I saw a guy used a thread to remove the glue, is that a good idea?
