I’ve just purchased a new/old stock unit, but when plugged in and the button is pushed, it does not light and no heat is generated. The unit is fairly simple; where should I begin to troubleshoot? Line cord continuity?

@clarknovak58364 start opening the unit up (unplug it first) measure the continuity of the power cord. Then check the switch and next check the heating coil.
