How to Fix Loose Charging Port

After only a year of owing a brand new iPad 7th generation, the charging port became loose enough that charging it became a problem. For a while we were able to jiggle the charging cord around to get the pins to make contact inside the port and charge the iPad. But now it won’t charge at all and Apple wants more than half the original cost of the device to replace the charging port. Can I purchase a new charging port and easily replace it myself?
