How do I run an instrument panel self-test? 09 Elantra Touring

My gas gauge is not working, and one of the troubleshooting options that was recommended was running an instrument panel self-test to see if the gauge needle moves freely between F and E. I can't find out how to initiate this test - can someone help? The car is a 2009 Elantra Touring.
