iPhone 12 bricked overnight. Possibly due to unknown update.

Hello, my iPhone 12 appears to be bricked currently. This issue began at approximately 2:01 AM 9/7/2023 EDT. The device was working properly before going to bed, there was not even an alert of an automatic update, although according to Life360, at 2:01 AM the device appeared to have lost signal. The device was brought to apple today, they said they've "never seen this issue before" and could not help. I've tried putting the device into DFU mode, although the phone did not appear to iTunes or my desktop. I have seen an issue similar to this appear online which was solved by replacing a faulty earpiece speaker and I'm wondering if there is a component I can troubleshoot and replace myself as I own an iFixit Pro Tech Toolkit.

hello Ryan,

Your problem is a short circuit in the electronics. It happens all the time. In the evening, last looked to see if the alarm clock set, and in the morning... it looked like a dead. Eventually, one of the pull-up capacitors died. Sometimes it is an end of its resorce, sometimes it is an internal explosion due to overload. Stories like this could be told for hours. You can find more of this on my blog (link in the "about me" tab due to the restrictions of this website) if you would like to learn more.

Coming back to your case, the problem will be solved by a microelectronics in a good repair shop. Diagnostics will not cost much and will protect you against unnecessary costs and irreversible damage to your phone. Also, it should not take longer than 15-20 minutes, which is enough in skilled hands to solve this puzzle. You are at the stage of a really minor repair, don't let be convinced that it is a kind of difficult repairing... for some astronomical amount of money. It just will mean that the technician has no idea how to repair it.
