Upon logging in screen is black

Trying to fix a friends computer. First it's a prefab gaming computer but i don't know what kind and he doesn't remember. I has win 10 pro, 8 gig ram, and a 1TB hard drive. When booting windows starts (kinda slow) but when you log in the screen is black and doesn't show anything. I can do CTRL + Shift+ ESC and get the processes window but I tried running dxdiag from that and a couple other commands but nothing happens. It won't let me get into bios screen and won't let me safe mode. I am thinking I need to wipe the drive and start with a clean install if it lets me boot to a USB which it doesn't now..... anyway any tips would be appreciated.

If Windows is the problem one of these possible solution may help:

Accessing Advanced Start-up when PC isn't loading:

If your device isn't loading or stuck during boot, you can use this method to access the recovery environment:

  1. Turn on your PC.
  2. As soon as the Windows logo appears on your screen, press the power button to turn off computer.
  3. Repeat steps 1 or 2 two more times.

After the third interruption, Windows 10 will open into the Advanced Start-up environment

While in the Advanced start-up environment, use the following steps to use Start-up Repair:

  1. Select Troubleshoot button.
  2. Select Advanced options button.
  3. Select the “Start-up Repair” button.
  4. Select your account.
  5. Type your account password.
  6. Click the Continue button.

If the above doesn’t help do the same as above but this time select “System Restore” from the “Advanced Options?

Or From CMD Prompt

 Run following:

  •  Chkdsk /F
  • SFC /scannow
  • Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

(Note:    Repair Windows 10 - "you need to sign in as an administrator to continue, but there aren't any administrator accounts on this PC"

  1. 1) Press Shift and Restart from the power icon (together)
  2. 2) Select Troubleshoot.
  3. 3) Go to Advanced Options.
  4. 4) Select Command Prompt.
  5. 5) Type "net user Administrator /active:yes")

Enable F8 key for booting into Safe Mode from CMD
