Keyboard issue: occasionally letters are doubled when typing

I inherited a 2017 macbook pro13" with retina display.

I've cleaned the keyboard pretty thoroughly and was not able to find a hardware reason for this.

I've reset the SMC, tinkered with the keyboard settings in Preferences, and there was no effect on the issue.

Any ideas on what else I could do?

Does it have a TouchScreen just above the keyboard keys? That way we can correctly ID which version as Apple produced two 13” models in 2017.

Ok, that’s helpful! Given the age of the system I’m suspecting the keyboard cable is getting squeezed from the battery. I’m guessing it’s after it’s been running a bit or when the battery is under charge.

Let’s see what the batteries state is, install this gem of an App CoconutBattery if the cycle count is over 1000 it’s time for a fresh battery MacBook Pro 13" Retina (Touch Bar, Late 2016-2017) Battery and here’s the guide to put it in MacBook Pro 13" Touch Bar 2017 Battery Replacement

It does not have a touch screen - instead it has f1/f2/f3/f4 etc.

Thanks!
