Has the phone been dropped or gotten wet at all?
Try starting the phone in safe mode and check if then the display is OK

My son dropped it probably a few times.
Never got wet (like soaked).

Did you try starting the phone in safe mode, (click on the "blue safe mode link to see how to do this) you never said?
