My Asus zenbook duo is not turning on

it turns on randomly after several clicks sometimes after few days it turns on. I suspect the issue is with the power key. To turn on ASUS zenbook duo the only way is power button, there are no other options(may be cmos battery removal would work)

If it’s power key can someone walk through the process of changing the power key or any other alternative.

Right now my laptop is turned off, it is not turning on.🥹

This is a common problem I have also faced.

First try hold the power button for 5 seconds.

It might just give a blank screen with the screen pad on with full brightness(and if you had put the laptop at full speed mode the fans will be screaming (totallynormal) )

Press the power button for 5 extra seconds to fully turn it off

After this press and hold the power button for 10 seconds

By now your pro duo will turn on with the logo being the first thing it displays

It might take 1 minute for it to reach the lock screen which is okay.

And by now your laptop is now OK

Hope this helps

I apologize for the inconvenience you’re facing with your ASUS Zenbook Pro 14 Duo OLED (UX8402). Let’s troubleshoot this issue together:

  1. Power Button Check:
    • The power button is crucial for turning on your laptop. If it’s malfunctioning, it can cause startup issues.
    • Before considering hardware replacement, try the following:
      • Press and hold the power button: Sometimes, a long press (about 10 seconds) can force a hard reset.
      • Check the AC adapter: Ensure its connected properly and providing power.
      • Inspect the power LED: Look for any signs of life (even brief flashes) when you press the power button.
  2. Alternative Power-On Methods:
    • Unfortunately, the Zenbook Duo primarily relies on the power button for startup.
    • CMOS battery removal won’t directly affect the power button functionality. It mainly resets BIOS settings.
    • If you suspect the power button, consider seeking professional repair or contacting ASUS support.
  3. Changing the Power Button:
    • Replacing the power button involves disassembling the laptop, which can be complex.
    • Disassembly guide:
      1. Remove the bottom plate: Undo the screws and gently pry the bottom panel away from the chassis.
      2. Locate the power button assembly: It’s usually near the top of the keyboard area.
      3. Disconnect the power button cable: Carefully unplug the cable from the motherboard.
      4. Replace the power button module: Install a new power button module (if available).
      5. Reassemble the laptop: Secure the bottom plate and tighten the screws.
  4. Professional Assistance:
    • Given the intricacies of laptop internals, I recommend seeking professional help.
    • An authorized ASUS service center can diagnose and repair the issue effectively.

Remember to back up your data if possible before any repair attempts. I hope your Zenbook Duo powers up smoothly soon.

I’ve provided general guidance for troubleshooting and replacing the power button. For specific details on disassembly and replacement, refer to the official ASUS support resources. If you need further assistance, consider reaching out to ASUS customer support or a certified technician.
