Connector identification for Y740-17IRH

I was performing maintenance on my Y740-17IRH laptop for overheating issues, and I'm trying to identify the type of connector used on the left/right speaker and the button battery. If I can buy only the connectors and replace them (a couple crumbled from heat stress), I think I could save almost $100 because the other parts seem to be okay.

Does anyone know if they are JST, and if so, what type? If not, would you know what type?

They appear to have a pitch of 1.5 - 2mm, and are flat on the wide male part with no notches, but the appearance from the top and bottom looks like a Greek column with narrow shoulders at the end, and wider shoulders at the base where the wires attach.

Any help would be appreciated,

Kelly

After looking at mini-micro JST 2-pin connectors on Amazon, I don't think they're the same. My Legion connectors are slimmer in depth, and have a step in the shoulder that is intended to prevent the shaft from pushing all the way through. Also, no ridges and channels lengthwise, just a single small button in front of the ends of the wires, and two little fins at the end to guide the plastic housing.

Pinhole center to pinhole center appears to be 1.5 mm

@kellyhicks awesome lets see what we can find out. This company claims compatibility for the CviLux connectors. Have a peek until we can find the one for your computer. https://www.jkuncn.com/test-a1255-wire-t...

@kellyhicks take a picture from the front. Lenovo uses CviLux connectors for their speakers. Measure the distance from pinhole to pinhole. Let's see if we can match you up with something on DigiKey or Mouser :-)

The RTC battery connector is a ACES 50271-0020N-001

Okay, will do. I'm sorry I can't get in closer, but the tablet camera just won't focus that close. Maybe I can sketch a diagram, too. I'm a visual artist and this laptop is my work computer.

@kellyhicks anything will work. The importance is the distance from hole to hole.

Center to center, the holes appear to be 1.5 mm apart, but from what I remember when taking it apart, the button/disc battery connector looked the same. The thing is, this connector looks really, really flat compared to anything I've seen on the internet. Definitely not "boxy". More "pancake-y". Can I just ignore the mount and bypass it using both sides of the new connector?

My primary issues right now are that button battery and removal of an M2 screw I stripped when trying to remove the right hand hinge cover (neither rubber nor epoxy seem to be working, and I don't have access to a Dremel cutting tool at the moment). The M2 is sitting flush with a guard around it, so I think I might try cutting a cross into it with a sharp x-acto knife to get some grip.

I will take a photo of the board mount tomorrow morning when I have more light to work with.

@kellyhicks that is odd. Any chance you can get us some pictures of the motherboard? That way we may need to try and find the schematics for it. Doing a quick inquiry on Google it appears that your logic board is a Compal LA-G132P

Hey there Kelly,

From what I could find it looks like a two pin micro-JST connector, although we would need better pictures to be sure.

Best of luck to you!

Ah, what was I thinking? Here's a photo with a contrasting background so you can see the relief. This is about as close as I can get with the camera on my tablet without it going blurry. Is this good enough to see?

I can't seem to place an image in this comment, so I'll add the photo as an answer to my own question.
