Hi I bought a locked Mac.
And I don’t know if it’s activation lock or not. But I tried the reset asistant and I tried signing with my iCloud. It didn’t unlock the Mac but now the Mac is under my iCloud account. But not in my find my. Does that mean that the activation lock is disabled?

I think you have confused your self between the different account uses.
Find My is leveraging a given users iCloud account (the original owner) while your account is a second user account. Think how multiple people can share a desktop using different system accounts. In truth these can be independent or the same User ID just doing different things.
So the other user never removed his association to the system so he can lock or erase the system at any time remotely, he also knows where his system is located geographically (where you are).
As far as your stuff depending on the ACL your data maybe exposed! Even within your iCould storage.

@kicmer - To correct you as I stated the systems user account can be the same iCloud account (me and my brother both look alike as we are twins, my brother took something of yours but how do you tell us apart? That’s the first dilemma you face here, the second is someone accessing your stuff depending on the systems ACL settings.
I personally would return it or get the person to remove the system from their iCloud account if they are local, if you know who.
If you do return the system make sure you delete your data from the system and remove your user and iCloud credentials from it as well.
@danj I purchased it for spare parts. The screen is cracked, and it’s bend, in bad condition (photos are on my other question about headless Mac probably a week old)but everything else functions perfectly. Unfortunately, the seller doesn't have any contact information for the original owner. Now I'm a bit concerned it might be stolen, but I couldn't find any reports indicating that."
@kicmer - Use it for what you intended for discrete parts.
If you use it then I wouldn’t connect it to the Internet (air and wired gapped) but that limits its usefulness.
There are times we can’t get what we want as the cost or risks are to great.
@danj Thank you. I got it for 20 USD so i am not mad. It’s still isn’t working, furthest I can get it is to recovery mode. So I am going to use it for parts.
