Boot loop after installing new display

Hey y'all!

I just replaced the screen on this 2020 MacBook Pro A2251 and it wont boot. I've installed the new screen following the guide to a T. Whenever I plugged the MacBook in and turn it on, I'm greeted with the screen lighting up black. It only lights up for a second or two before it turns back off and tries to boot again. I've tried just about everything I can think of.

  1. Tried to boot recovery mode
  2. Tried to boot internet recovery
  3. Cleared NVRAM
  4. Cleared SMC
  5. I booted into DFU mode and tried to use apple configurator to revive the system to no avail.

At this point, I've exhausted every option I knew of or could find online. I would be extremely grateful for any other tips!

What happened that you needed to replace the display? You may have over looked other damage. Also where did you get the display? Is it brand new or used.

Hey @danj ! I purchased the screen replacement from iFixit. Everything seems to be working with the screen replacement. I can see a clear apple logo for a split second before the computer shuts down again. The person I'm doing the replacement for said that they don't think they dropped it. They said one day there were lines in the display but over time it cracked and got so bad they couldn't see the screen anymore. I'm willing to bet that they either dropped it, closed the screen too hard, or maybe had it in a backpack and just dropped that on the floor. The internals looked mostly okay, there were a couple of dents but they were very minor. It's weird, it won't boot into MacOS or Recovery mode, but I can get it into DFU mode just about every time.

Also, I've done many screen replacements for 2018, 19, and 20 macbooks prior to this and none of them have given me an issue; this one is kind of frustrating because I repaired one problem but cant resolve the other...

@mrcackalacky - Well at least the display its self is good! What happened if you shine a flashlight into the screen at a sharp angle when pressed against the screen are you able to see the faint outline of Apple Logo or is it fully black after the visible boot up?

tarafından

@danj - Well its a bit complicated. The computer turns on, then I see the backlight turn on but the screen is still black, then the apple logo pops up like it normally would do when turning on, finally the computer shuts back down along with the display. When the backlight turns on, there is no apple logo, then there is a clear visible apple logo, then the computer turns off and there is no apple logo or backlight
