Grinder motor not turning on - conical burrs already replaced

Jura C9, worked flawlessly after brew group refresh 3 years ago. Now getting a "Fill Beans" error, no coffee, no grinding. Replaced the conical burr grinder gears and reassembled. Grind motor is not turning on when you try to brew.

Motor is not getting power during brew as verified via a meter. So I'm assuming there is/are 1 or more inline fuses I need to find.

Has anyone run into this problem? Where do you source replacements?

Thank you

UPDATE: In addition to the thermal fuse being bad, I have found board damage on the power control board

@bradnic let's see if the iFixit guru @vauweh has a trick up his sleeve ;-) to help you out.

Thank you @vauweh ! as always. I am delighted to hear there's a repair service in Hamburg. I will try to identify the defective parts myself before sending it out. Fortunately there is no visible trace damage on the board. I have verified that this board is no longer available from Jura. Pics attached (finally figured out how to do that.)

@bradnic So you have already checked whether the mains voltage is present on the grinder when you want to make a coffee? And you are sure its zero? In this case I see two possibilities, one slight and one serious: First check the thermal fuse, which ist clamped to the side of the grinder. You can bridge it, just for testing. The resistence should be zero ohms. If not, replace it. The other possibility is a faulty motherboard. Well, it could be fixed, but that is difficult. You have to follow the tracks on the motherboard from the connection until you reach the relevant transistor or triac. This could be one possible cause. Maybe you can find a used part to replace the complete motherboard. Concerning the parts: depends where you live. In europe its easy and rather cheap. Personally, I usually buy from the following retailer. I also provide the link to the thermal fuse. Good luck!

Thanks for the reply @vauweh. I did end up bypassing the thermal fuse to test it and found it defective. Already ordered a replacement from jura-parts.com. This machine really is a marvel.

Good news, @bradnic! Another good machine saved from the bin. Repair is war on entropy.

Keep a close eye on the machine in the near future, perhaps there is a reason why the fuse has blown.

@vahweh replaced the thermal fuse. problem still remains. Are there schematics anywhere for the motherboard?

tarafından

There is about 5VDC on the grinder motor terminals at all times. starting a coffee should turn the grinder motor on, but no voltage change. Grinder motor works perfectly - confirmed in an F60.

Further digging - there's clear damage to the power board. this is a 120V unit, board part number C7XX-PRD-15. There is a discolored part labeled "NTC1" that looks like a disc capacitor. There's a diode D4 right next to NTC1 that's also discolored

@bradnic Oh No - that's sad! I see some options for you:

  • The board itself. As far as I know schematics are not freely available. There are parts sold e.g. here. A sticker wearing a number should be attached to the board, if you want to replace the board you must match this number.
  • A new or used board, e.g this one. Google for it using "Leistungssprint Jura C9".
  • I suppose that there are no differences between boards with 120 and 230 V as the low voltage is produced by the transformer. You probably want to check the transformer? Perhaps it is the culprit and must be replaced?
  • And last not least: there is a specialized service center in Hamburg, Germany. They repair those boards.

Hopefully they ship the parts overseas and your device will be healthy again.

.

It appears that the board you linked to is juraprofil.de is a euro version - I see a different part number, "C7GX-PRD-10". It appears to have a very similar layout, but different heatsink. NTC1 and D4 are there as well. They do not ship to US unfortunately (or UK). Will need to find someone to ship it to in the EU.

.

Pictures of the board were added to the original question. I have linked them here as well, not sure if they will show up
