My LED Cinema Display Briefly Turns on, first the backlight is bright with a black screen and then dimly for a few seconds whilst displaying the desktop. After that the backlight goes off an image can be seen though. The speakers, USB ports and iSight work fine. Please help!

Always check the cables and connectors again to make sure they are connected properly & solidly to your computer and the display.
Reset the PRAM by restarting your computer while holding down the Command, Option, P, and R keys (all four keys, release only after the second startup) until you hear the startup sound a second time.
If nothing improves I would suspect a backlight failure.

I've tried two computers, my macbook and my iMac. It seems to stay on longer when on dark backgrounds and when the macbook isn't connected to the charger. I think it could be a voltage problem.
Yes or failing LED backlight. Generally when electronic components fail, they fail, but sometimes gremlins (cold solder joints) seem to cause intermittent problems that indicate a failing component.
