Epson Printer WF-7015's plastic part on the cartridge box is broken

Epson Printer W7015's plastic part on the ink cartridge box is broken. I accidently did it. I checked a bit but I couldn't fully understand its funtion. Is it something important ? It seems that the printer still works fine.

The broken piece was cross shaped plastic as given in this photo
