Converting the system into a display
HI, Dan. My interest was primarily forward-looking. I currently am using a 27" iMac (Mid 2010) and anticipating it's demise.
Thinking about acquiring a Mini, but really like the 27" display, so when I stumbled across this thread, thought I'd explore further. (I'm using this thread because I didn't think of asking a separate question.) I'm not a "hobbyist" or computer expert, but do have some experience on electronic devices in general, so... Hope I didn't mess up this thread; it certainly wasn't my intention to hijack it, I just didn't know any other way to contact you.

@danj, can you point us in the right direction for obtaining the interface board you mention above? TIA!

@doug12716 - Answers (here) is where a collection of volunteers help people.
This series still has a useful life as a computer! Just by updating its OS. I can see other older systems which make sense converting as the last option, and I can see a dead system might be a good candidate as well.
Both directions serve the goals of reuse, but clearly in this case saving the system was the better choice.
Dropping is as you did without context (or better asking your own question independently) means we are left not understanding what your point was.
Yes, GitHub is not the easiest place to navigate or find help, which is why we have a guide on OpenCore! And the PC doc I also linked too often answers the deeper questions.

@doug12716 - I’ve moved your question into its own question so we don’t distract others as the conversion kit is different for the older systems from the 5k display the other system had.

@doug12716 make sure that you get a high quality driver board. Biggest complaint with these boards is that the brightness is less than what you are used to from your iMac.

@oldturkey03 , how might one ascertain the quality? Price isn't always a reliable indicator, eh? Do you suggest just "googling" the mfgr? (Most electronic items seem to be built in China, so info is often limited...)
